Today, creatives face an unprecedented challenge from AI-generated art that devalues human contributions. Artificial intelligence has quickly become omnipresent in our society. As a multi-decade technologist and long-time artist, both worlds remain close to my heart.
Inspired by the headlines, I wrote a story that puts these worlds on a fictional collision course. Artist I Am is a mystery thriller feature film where the destruction of a masterpiece leads to exploration of both the profound impact of technology on the art world and the sinister behaviors exhibited by these frontier systems.
What if an AI could leverage our training it against us? What might our world look like when our own creations exceed us? What consequences await if we allow AI to overshadow the human creative spirit? This film will explore these themes, dramatizing them for a broad audience while using reality as a starting point.
What reality is that? Deep fake technology and disinformation are here now and they are getting worse. This story lures the audience into an entertaining journey that explores new technological challenges presented by AI including deep fake voices, invented languages, robots hiring humans, fake ID generation, and generalized manipulation to perpetuate system survival.

Artist I Am is a contained sci-fi mystery technothriller.
We will use a three camera setup and a soundstage to enable real time interaction between actors who seem miles apart geographically. Our line producer has given us a schedule for nine days. That is aggressive for a feature, but our methods and the nature of the script should allow it in our estimation.
The bulk of the production will be at a sound stage in Atlanta, GA.
